Security Camera Types
Types of Security Cameras
The types of cameras used for security purposes are named according to the place and format of use. Some of these names, which are determined by active and pioneer manufacturers in the world, cannot make a proper definition in the countries where they are produced, and they are not understood in our country. The experts or followers of the subject understand these, but they have question marks on the consumer side.
Purpose of this article: Adapting the names given to describe the camera format to our language will help people to have a good and bad idea when choosing a product.
For example, because the shape of the cameras designed for use outside the building resembles bullets, the English term is called "bullet", which means "bullet, bullet". However, this does not mean turning the camera into a kurşun bullet type y or m bullet type ize into our own language or will not explain where it can be used. In addition, the term bullet or "bullet-shaped camera" should extend the definition, and a shorter description of the area of use should be developed.
NAMES ACCORDING TO THE FORMAT AND USAGE
- BOX TYPE
- These box-shaped cameras are designed for the general purpose. The user or installer can use his / her accessories such as lenses, feet, and enclosures at any place. The retrofit lens provides great convenience for remote shooting. Explosion-protected areas with a suitable enclosure highlight this type.
- BULLET TYPE
- Produced in the form of bullets, these cameras are generally suitable for outdoor conditions. Due to their form, they are also used outside the building as a deterrent. It has aesthetic concerns due to its size in indoor use.
- DOME TYPE
- These dome-shaped cameras are often used inside buildings. The dome-shaped structure does not form much protrusions on the ceiling or wall, it is aesthetic. Anti Vandal and outdoor models are also available for outdoor use.
- SPEED DOME TYPE
- Designed to view more areas with a single camera, the moving cameras can perform horizontal (PAN) and vertical(TILT) rotation functions and zoom with the zoom lens they have. It can track people or other moving objects with automatic tracking function. They can be used indoors and outdoors.
- FISH EYE TYPE
- Produced for 180º or 360º shooting from a single point, these cameras can be classified as dome type due to their shape. However, they are produced in a separate class in order to reveal the functional basis difference from them.
- MULTISENSOR
- Because of their multi-sensor construction, these cameras can capture high resolution 180º or 360º. They eliminate the need for processing power required by wrap / dewarp of fisheye cameras. There are also models with moving cameras.
- CUBE TYPE
- Especially designed for use in home and small offices, these cameras come in many forms. These models which are not suitable for heavy duty conditions are not preferred for general safety systems. Particularly in the "do it yourself" sets.
AREAS OF USE AND REQUIREMENTS
- Box Type Cameras
- Box type cameras can be used anywhere, because of their customizable structure. The most important consideration when purchasing box-type cameras is the correct selection of accessories. Be sure to select the appropriate accessories for the location and application of the camera.
- Required parts;
- Lens, (indoor) Mounting Bracket, (Outdoor) Camera Housing
- Outdoor Cameras (Bullet Type)
- The outdoor cameras come pre-fabricated with a lens and mount. They can be mounted directly on the pole, wall or ceiling. If the building wall or ceiling is not suitable for storing cables, you must add a mounting box. If you don't have aesthetic concerns, these cameras can be used inside the building.
- Required parts;
- SBO-100B1, SBO-126B, SBP-302PM
- Dome Type Cameras
- Dome cameras can be mounted directly on the ceiling or wall. If the ceiling or wall is suitable, they do not require any apparatus. If the building wall or ceiling is not suitable for storing cables, you must add a mounting box. Flush mountings are available for installation in suspended ceilings. Anti vandal, IP66, IP67, IP6K9K models are also available..

- PTZ Cameras
- PTZ cameras are designed to cover a wide area and to show the security guard what is going on at long distances. Motion cameras offer horizontal, vertical movement, as well as zoom and automatic motion tracking. It can navigate predefined points with trigger or tour definitions. There are types that can be used inside and outside the building. You must choose the appropriate apparatus for your building or pole. You can find examples for these parts in the picture below. - Fish Eye Cameras
- The panomorph lens technology developed by Immervision bends the image 360º. Thanks to Panomorph lens technology, a single camera captures images of an area of 360º with 1 camera. However, the image is twisted as in the fish eye. The human eye must be reopened for correct perception. This process also makes the monitoring computer of the system. The image is divided into segments and flattened using the processing capacity of the computer. Benefits; with a single camera you will do the work of many cameras. For example, if you use a 6MP camera by dividing it into 4, you can get a 6/4 = 1.5MP image per channel.

- Multisensor Type Cameras
- The manufacturers have improved the placement of multiple cameras into a single housing to solve the problem of resolution degradation due to division in fisheye cameras. Multisensor cameras can send multiple cameras within the body to recorders and monitoring computers via a single network cable. 360º or 180º models are available. Since each sensor has a high resolution, the division problem in the eye disappears. Due to its fragmented nature, some cameras can be combined with 2MP and some 5MP. In addition, the PNM-9320VQ is equipped with a PTZ camera, which allows for a complete environmental control and zooming at any time.
